The Best Vehicles for Pets

Best Vehicles for Pets

There are plenty of drivers in the Cerritos, Long Beach, and Buena Park areas who love taking their pet out on excursions throughout town. Whether they’re heading to a park, the beach, or visiting family, it’s always great to bring your furry friend along for the ride. However, if you’re the type of driver who loves bringing your dog or cat on the road with you, you’ll want to make sure that your car is suitable for your precious cargo!

At Norm Reeves Ford Superstore Cerritos, we’re here to list some of the best vehicles for pets. So, when you’re planning your next adventure with your animal, you may want to consider one of these automotive options.

Ford SUVs for You and Your Pet!

Perhaps the best type of vehicle for your adventures on the road with your pet is an SUV. These vehicles offer an impressive amount of space, and depending on the size of your animal, having the extra space in the back can be ideal for your pet—and for their overall comfort during long treks.

These SUVs also feature rear seats that fold down, so you can create even more space for your pet to stretch, move around, and find their ideal spot to relax.

Ford EcoSport

Ford EcoSportThe EcoSport offers a strong and efficient performance that allows you to get the most out of your fuel tank. As for the interior, it opens up with 91.1 cubic feet of space, with 20.9 cubic feet of space in the rear. If the rear seat is folded down, the cargo area opens up to 50 cubic feet of space.

Ford Edge

The Ford Edge offers some impressive capabilities on the road, thanks to its turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost® 4-cylinder engine, which means you and your pet will get to your destination in no time. The back of the cabin includes 113 cubic feet of total space, with 39.2 cubic feet for cargo. When the rear seats are folded, the vehicle includes 73.4 cubic feet of space.

Ford Escape

2019 Ford Escape Lightning Blue

The Ford Escape offers a little less space than the Edge at 98.7 cubic feet of cabin space. The rear offers 34 cubic feet of space for your pet, or you can fold down the rear seats to generate 68 cubic feet of total space.

Ford Explorer

2019 Ford ExplorerThe Ford Explorer is spacious enough to seat seven passengers over three rows of seating. The cabin offers 151.5 cubic feet of space. The cargo area is 21 cubic feet, which could be a tight squeeze if you’ve got a bigger dog. However, folding the third row down opens the space up to 43.9 cubic feet, or 81.7 cubic feet with the last two rows folded down.

Fun Ford Features

All Ford models come equipped with the SYNC® system, which is the dashboard-mounted display that lets you select your entertainment for the ride. You and your pup can enjoy some tunes, and you can even select your media options through the enhanced voice-recognition system. This gives you the opportunity to keep your eyes on the road, all while getting to your destination safely alongside your cuddly creature.

If you’re currently looking for the best vehicles for pets, you can always contact us at Norm Reeves Ford Superstore Cerritos. We’ll be happy to help you and your pet find the right set of wheels for your adventures on the roads throughout Cerritos, Long Beach, and Buena Park.

Why Buy a Used Car?

Buy a Used Car

The stigma of driving a used car is a thing of the past as today’s drivers appreciate the many benefits that come with buying a quality used car. And perhaps no one understands this better than the team at Norm Reeves Ford Superstore Cerritos, who have been helping drivers in Cerritos, Long Beach, and Los Angeles for decades.

So, if you’re asking yourself, “Why buy a used car?”, continue reading to learn the answer. Once you’re done, take some time to browse our used car inventory before stopping in for a visit!

Upgrade Without the Upgraded Cost

Upgrading Your VehiclePerhaps you always had your eye on that one model that was always just a little too far out of financial reach. This is where a gently used pre-owned car can help make that dream a reality! Enjoy the same performance standards, premium comfort, and technology, but at a price that best fits your monthly budget.

Avoid the “Break-in” Period

It’s a well-known fact among car manufacturers and service techs that a new vehicle takes a year or two before it reaches its full-performance level. During the first 10,000-25,000 miles, things like the engine and transmission are still settling in while most technical bugs and glitches get worked out under warranty.

This is a big advantage to a used car buyer as you don’t have to go through this process, while still enjoying a gently used car that’s practically brand new!

Less Depreciation Means Greater Value

Used Cars UpgradeThe moment you drive off the dealership lot in a brand-new vehicle, its value immediately takes a big depreciation hit. In some cases, it can be as high as 30%! A used vehicle on the other hand already has taken this hit, meaning you can often find a high-quality used car at a greater value.

Consider a used car that’s only one or two years old. Is it really going to be that much different from the latest model? You also might be able to take advantage of its existing warranty coverage, which only increases your savings.

Lower Registration and Insurance Fees

Insurance companies often view used cars as less of a financial risk than brand-new models, which can result in snagging a lower monthly premium. You might also catch a break on taxes and registration fees, too, depending on the state and municipality you reside in.

Used Car Financing With You in Mind

Once you settle on the perfect used car, the financing team is ready and waiting to help. Committed to securing you the best terms and rate to fit your needs, they’ll patiently walk you through the entire process, so you can drive away feeling completely confident.

To apply for pre-approved financing ahead of your visit, take a moment to complete a simple-and-secure financial application through our site!

CarDealershipCDK

So you know it’s time to start looking for your next used car here in the Cerritos, Long Beach, and Anaheim areas. However, you’re uncertain where to begin or what to do.

When that happens, all you need to do is turn to this detailed used car buying checklist by the Norm Reeves Ford Superstore Cerritos team.

Just follow the steps laid out ahead, contact us, and you’ll be good to go.

  • Put Together a Budget

It’s impossible to know which cars are realistic choices for you and your lifestyle if you don’t have a solid budget to follow. That’s why we suggest completing this step first thing in the used car buying journey.

Factor in your monthly income and all usual expenses. Whatever wiggle room you have left can be put toward a car payment.

  • Find a Trade-In Value

Not all drivers choose to trade in their current vehicle when shopping for a new one. However, the money you get from it can be put toward a down payment.

On our website, you’ll find a handy trade-in calculator that you can use to determine your car’s worth.

  • CarBuyingExcitementFind the Right Seller

Before you find the right car, you need to find the right seller. In some cases, choosing a private seller may sound enticing, but buyers beware. There’s no guarantee that what you’re getting from a private seller is high quality.

Dealerships run according to industry standards. High quality isn’t just a suggestion for them, it’s the imperative. With them, you’ll always have a reliable vehicle and plenty of options.

  • Find the Right Car

Okay, you’ve got the dealership. Now it’s time to put together your list of favorite models. Browse the dealership’s inventory online so you can find the most appealing cars before even leaving home.

  • Take the Car for a Spin

After you have a car (or two or three) picked out, it’s time to get behind the wheel and see how it drives. Pay close attention to brakes and engine response, handling, and interior comfort, etc.

If the car doesn’t feel right to you, it probably isn’t. That’s why you ought to test drive more than one!

  • Request a Vehicle History Report

Most dealerships will have a vehicle history report ready for you. Be sure to request one so you know what the car has been through.

  • Car dealershipSit Down with the Finance Team

Now that you’ve picked out a car, you may need to secure an auto loan for it. In which case, you can always sit down with the dealership’s finance team. They’ll walk you through all the steps of this process, keeping things as simple as possible.

  •  Prepare for Purchase Day

You’re just one step away from driving your next used car home! All you have to do is sign some paperwork. Here’s what you’ll have to bring to the dealership on the day of purchase:

  • Driver’s license and registration
  • Proof of insurance (new and old)
  • Old car’s title (for trading in)
  • Occasionally, proof of income and residency

About the German Shepherd Breed

The German Shepherd breed is incredibly intelligent. They’ve been used as working dogs for many years and are often seen helping military service members, police and fire rescue, search and rescue, drug detection, and more. This kind of dog might be a great choice if you want a companion animal who’ll train well. It’s also a great option if you’re active and you’d like a nice, protective dog who’ll stay by your side for your morning run. These dogs can live on average 10-14 years, and usually weigh between 75 and 95 pounds when fully grown.

About Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of Southern California is a local non-profit that works to find loving homes to German Shepherds in the area. Most pups come to them after being abandoned by their previous owners, but many come from abusive or neglected homes.

This organization is a no-kill, all volunteer, non-profit organization. All money earned through sales and donations goes to supporting their mission—to “educate the public about German Shepherds, their lifespan, personality, [and] activity level, along with overall responsible dog ownership.” They fulfill that mission by providing education to the community, raising awareness of dog overpopulation, and spaying and neutering animals prior to finding them a forever home.

Thinking about Adopting?

If you’ve been thinking about adding a furry friend to your family, here are a few things you need to know about adopting from Coastal German Shepherd Rescue of Southern California. The fee for adoption of adult dogs is $300, and the cost for a puppy is between $400 and $500.

This cost includes veterinary care, including spaying or neutering, microchipping, and vaccinations, as well as care before you take the pup into custody. This cost also includes the cost of taking care of dogs who are severely injured or critically ill.

If you’d like to learn more about the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue, or the adoption event, check out their full website now. And be sure to stop by Norm Reeves Ford at the Cerritos Auto Square on Saturday, December 17th to meet some super cute friends!

Your Guide to the 2016 Tet Festival

According to the Vietnamese calendar, we’re quickly approaching the Year of the Monkey. The monkey means curiosity, happiness, and playfulness, but it also means that the Vietnamese New Year, known as Tết Nguyên Ðán, is drawing near. This significant holiday brings with it the annual Tết Festival, which for 2016 promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

This event strives to “elevate the Vietnamese American female as a national symbol of beauty and pride,” according to the 2016 Tết Festival website.

But that’s not the only fun activity that you can get involved in. There’s also a children’s pageant, a Phở eating contest, a short film contest, and a floral arrangement contest.

However, there’s no doubt that one of the most popular events at this year’s Tết Festival will be the talent show. Scheduled for Saturday, February 13, the talent show is open to any unique or interesting talent. Whether you’re a dance group or you’ve got a couple of funny one-liners, you’ll have the chance to perform live in front of thousands of people.
