Spring Fashions in Los Angeles, CA

Spring Fashion Week may be over, but the race for the best-dressed friend in your circle has just begun. Whether you’re a fashion blogger or an Instagram fashion hawk, there’s plenty of inspiration for adding to your wardrobe this year. But the question is, what will be the best spring fashions in Los Angeles, CA?

The jumpsuit is making a comeback. H&M has them now for under $20, and you can go from budget to glam in moments by adding a sweet pair of sandals with small heels. Stilettos and kitten heels are out, but you can pull out your awesome shoes from the ‘90s because they’re making a serious comeback. Not convinced? Downton Abbey’s Michelle Dockery recently wore a pair to the WIM (Women in Film, TC, Media & Digital) party. In fact, the ‘90s are totally in right now. Just check out the next trend.

Baby doll dresses were all over the Paris Fashion Week runway. From deep burnt read to mustardy yellow, you’re looking at a lot of leg this spring. Pair one of these dresses with knee-high boots, flats, strappy thigh-high sandals, Birkenstocks (these never went out of style, right?), or your favorite cut-out sandals and you’re runway ready. Speaking of shoes—let’s talk about another ‘90s comeback.

Cut-out sandals are making a huge comeback, so you can also pull out your shoes from high school because they’re seriously cool right now. From sling-backs to Mary Janes, you’ll be en vogue when you pair your new jumpsuit or baby doll dress with your sweet throwback shoes.

You know what’s not in, though? Wearing socks with sandals. You can tell your man you read it in an article somewhere and he must stop doing this immediately. And if it’s you? You better not be going out in public that way. And walking the dog is considered being in public, just an FYI.

But one more thing that’s totally coming back: lace! Thank goodness, because we were seriously missing this after the boho chic fashions sort of petered out. Take a lace top and pair it with something edgy such as a leather jacket with a zipper and you’re on the road to success. Pairing the feminine lace or even a crochet top with the bad-girl look of a leather motorcycle jacket, skinny jeans, and some awesome shoes will definitely make you look fashion forward.

Tips for Finding a Reliable Service Center near Los Angeles

Finding a Reliable Service CenterSo your car is making a weird noise and you’re looking for a reliable service center near your Los Angeles home to get it checked out. This is perfectly logical, but be sure to get it checked out soon because it could become a major headache if you don’t! Here are some tips to find the perfect service center.

• Get to know their experience. Look for a service department that has qualified staff. While it’s great to see a place that has apprentices, it’s even better when they’re being taught by highly trained and highly experienced service technicians. So when it’s time to get your vehicle serviced, ask the service center about the experience of the service technicians.

• Discover the benefits of shopping with them. Plenty of places offer free coffee when you walk in. But how many places offer a free inspection, warning light diagnostic check, or night service? These are just some of the benefits of shopping at a high-end service center. And these are the kinds of benefits you want to keep an eye out for.

• Check out the services they offer. Even if you just need an oil change right now, chances are you’re going to need much more in the future. Honda vehicles are reliable, but like any one on the road, they need regular maintenance to keep them on track. Check to see what other services the center offers so you know what you can rely on them for in the future.

• Make sure they’re convenient for you. Some places offer quick service that really seems to take forever in the end. But you want a service center that has convenient hours, night service, true express service, and plenty of freebies. While these may not seem important for just an oil change, you want to find a service center that respects your time and won’t waste it, even on a regular, quick service.

• Find out what kind of experience they offer for you. When you’re searching for a service center, you’re not just looking for a one-time experience. You’re starting a professional relationship with people you can hopefully trust for a long time. So it’s important that you get an A+ experience every time you show up. After all, why would you come back if the service was anything but excellent? Check out reviews and ask around and then try someplace new. But once you find a great place, keep going back! Loyal customers are happy customers.

Tips for Spring Cleaning your Car

Hey Long Beach, Downey, and Los Angeles drivers, Norm Reeves Ford is sharing some of their favorite tips for spring cleaning your car so you can get your ride looking and smelling like new again. Just check out their list of DIY car cleaning tips below to get your vehicle ready for spring. And as a gentle reminder, always use a microfiber or lint-free cloth when cleaning your car.

Tips for Cleaning Your Car’s Interior

  • Take out all of the floor mats and vacuum them separately. Rubber mats should be washed with a non-slip cleaner.
  • Use compressed air to free dirt and debris from buttons and cracks around the dashboard and doors.
  • Working from top to bottom, vacuum the upholstery, seats, and floors. Be sure to move the seats all the way forward and back to get all of the carpeting underneath them.
  • Remove stains from upholstery and carpeting with a foam cleanser. Vacuum the area after washing to remove any dislodged dust or dirt. Make sure you can dry the area after cleaning to prevent mold and mildew.
  • Cloth and nylon seats can be easily shampooed with a wet vac extraction machine.
  • Leather or vinyl should be cleaned only with leather or vinyl cleaner. After cleaning, use a conditioner on leather seats to avoid drying and cracking.
  • A mild all-purpose cleaner is great for wiping down any hard surfaces inside your car.
  • Use glass cleaner to clean all of the windows and mirrors. Avoid cleaners with ammonia or vinegar if you have after-market tinted windows, as these chemicals could damage the tint. However, factory tinting is protected in the glass so it won’t be damaged.

Tips for Cleaning Your Car’s Exterior

  • Park in a shady spot and let your car get nice and cool before you start cleaning.
  • Fill one bucket with sudsy cleaner and another with clean water. Dip a deep-pile terrycloth microfiber towel into the cleaner then wipe a section of the car’s exterior. Then dip the towel into the clean water to rinse out the dirt.
  • Working from top to bottom, clean one section of the vehicle at a time and don’t let the soap dry.
  • When you’re done washing, use a gentle stream of water from a hose to rinse the car and then dry it immediately with a cloth. Air drying will result in soap spots on your car’s exterior.
  • Use a wheel brush and degreaser or wheel cleaner to get dirt and grime off the wheel rims. Allow the cleaner to soak into the rims for about a minute before brushing it away.
  • Wash the tires with whitewall cleaner.

Of course, these are just a few tips for spring cleaning your car. Some of our Los Angeles, Downey, and Long Beach customers also suggest polishing and waxing your vehicle, changing the oil, and cleaning the air filter.

Ultimate Guide to the LA Festival of Color

Here it is, Long Beach, Downey, and Los Angeles: your ultimate guide to the LA Festival of Colors.

But before we dive in, it’s time for a short history lesson. Originating in India, Holi marked the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It has since become a major celebration in the United States, where people both young and old gather to dance, sing and, of course, cover each other in color. This year, the LA Festival of Color is being held on Saturday, March 7 from 11 am to 5 pm on the grounds of Excelsior High School in Norwalk. You can purchase tickets from the Festival of Colors USA website or at the event gates. General admission is $5, but kids 12 and under get in free. There’s on-street parking available, but please respect the residents of the community and don’t block their driveways.

Getting the Right Colors

Half of the fun of the festival is the color throw and spreading color on each other’s shirts and hair. So you’re going to need to get your hands on some temple-approved bags of color. What’s temple approved, you ask? They’ve been checked and guaranteed to be environmentally safe. Color from external vendors could include harmful chemicals, and festival officials will confiscated them. You can find approved color for sale on the official festival website or at the festival on the day of the event. Five assorted colors (violet, green, yellow, pink, and orange) in 100-gram bags can be purchased for $2 per bag.

What to Bring

Make sure you have some kind of eye protection to keep the color from getting into your eyes. A lot of people just use sunglasses, but there will 25-cent dust masks and $6 bandanas for sale at the festival. It’s important never to throw color directly into anyone’s face. Instead, nicely ask if you can lovingly rub it on their cheeks or in their hair. Don’t wear contact lenses. If color does get in your eyes, you don’t want it stuck behind your contacts. Also keep in mind that the color can stain clothes and skin. Wear clothes you don’t mind having dyed a new color. Try to shake off as much of the color powder as you possibly can before attempting to wash your clothing, skin, or hair. Drugs, alcohol, and smoking are strictly prohibited at the festival.

Must-Sees

Aside from the initial color throw, the Festival of Colors is all about the live performances. With a lineup of great acts simultaneously performing on two stages, it can be hard to know which to choose. Here are a few we think you should try to catch:

  • TK and Namrock (Main Stage, 11 am): Influenced by the early days of rock and roll, this band employs the use of sacred mantras with uplifting lyrics. Main Stage, 11 am
  • Lokah and the Bhakti Dance (Main Stage, 12:45 pm): The Bhakti dance is expressive and engages participants in chanting and dancing.
  • Govindas and Radha: A husband and wife team of bhakti yogis, experience their teachings and music from the Secondary Stage from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.
